GT4+ Rear Wing Overview

The RM Engineering GT4+ Rear Wing is a 1600 mm chassis-mounted rear wing developed specifically for the BMW F80 M3 and F82 M4. It combines a pre-preg carbon fiber mainplane and endplates with vehicle-specific uprights, trunk mounting bases and a reinforced support structure.

1600 mm Chassis-Mounted Design

The 1600 mm mainplane is larger than the OEM BMW M4 GT4 wing and was developed beyond GT4 homologation constraints to provide greater aerodynamic surface area.

The reinforced mounting system transfers rear-wing load into the vehicle structure rather than relying only on the outer trunk skin. It was developed as the rear component of the GT4+ aero system, working with the BMW F8X GT4+ Front Splitter Kit and GT4+ Carbon Fiber Canards as part of a coordinated front-to-rear configuration.

Vehicle balance will vary according to wing position, front aero configuration, suspension setup and ride height.

The F80 M3 and F82 M4 use different vehicle-specific mounting bases. Confirm the correct chassis option before ordering.

This rear wing is not listed for the BMW F83 M4 Convertible. Fitment with aftermarket trunk lids, previously modified mounting areas or nonstandard rear body structures is not confirmed.

Installation

Professional installation is required. Installation involves positioning and aligning the rear wing, drilling the trunk and installing the reinforced support structure and vehicle-specific trunk mounting bases. Cutting is not required.

Inspect the mounting areas and surrounding vehicle structure before installation. Previous accident damage, repairs, corrosion, trunk replacement or existing drilled holes may affect alignment and structural support.

All drilled mounting points must be properly sealed to help prevent water ingress. Review the Ridgeline Motorsport Installation Guides before installation.

What does chassis-mounted mean for this rear wing?

The reinforced support structure transfers rear-wing load into the vehicle structure rather than relying only on the outer trunk skin.

Does installation require drilling or cutting?

Installation requires drilling the trunk to secure the vehicle-specific mounting bases and reinforced support structure. Cutting is not required. Professional installation and proper sealing of all drilled mounting points are recommended.

Is this the same as an OEM BMW M4 GT4 rear wing?

No. The GT4+ wing is an RM Engineering product developed from BMW M4 GT4 aerodynamic principles. Its 1600 mm mainplane is larger than the OEM M4 GT4 wing and is not constrained by GT4 homologation dimensions.

How does the GT4+ wing differ from the GT4 MK2 and Ring Spec Wing?

The GT4+ is a 1600 mm chassis-mounted rear wing with vehicle-specific F80 and F82 mounting components. The GT4 MK2 Wing is a smaller(1400mm) universal wing commonly used across multiple BMW chassis, while the Ring Spec Wing V2 uses a more compact 1300mm profile with multiple mounting-height options.

Was the GT4+ rear wing developed for track use?

Yes. The rear wing was developed as part of the Ridgeline Motorsport GT4+ aero system and tested on F8X vehicles in Time Attack competition. Track development evaluated rear-wing load paths, high-speed vehicle behavior and overall front-to-rear aerodynamic balance rather than treating the wing as an isolated component.
