
GT4+ Hood Vent Overview
The RM Engineering GT4+ Carbon Fiber Hood Vent is a recessed heat-extraction vent developed for the Toyota GR Supra A90 and A91. Constructed from pre-preg dry carbon fiber, it combines an enlarged extraction opening with an upstream Gurney flap to help release hot, high-pressure air from the engine bay.
Unlike a surface-mounted styling vent, the GT4+ design creates a functional opening through the hood and positions the outlet within the external airflow passing over the vehicle.
Recessed Extraction Geometry
The upstream Gurney flap is designed to initiate local airflow separation before the extraction opening. Behind it, the recessed outlet sits below the external shear layer, helping protect the opening from direct stagnation pressure.
This pressure relationship is intended to encourage heated engine-bay air to move through the hood opening and into the lower-pressure external flow.
CFD-Developed Airflow Strategy
The hood vent geometry was evaluated through full-vehicle CFD analysis on the Toyota GR Supra A90/A91 platform. The simulations were used to examine surface pressure, relative velocity and streamline behavior around the recessed outlet.
Surface-relative velocity visualization shows faster airflow passing above and around the outlet, with a lower-speed separated region inside the recessed cavity. This behavior is consistent with an external shear layer forming over the opening rather than airflow directly stagnating inside it.
The CFD results support the intended external-flow mechanism of the vent. They do not independently quantify engine-bay mass flow, temperature reduction or a specific change in front-end lift.

Installation Requirements
Professional installation is required. The factory hood must be measured and cut to create the functional extraction opening before the carbon fiber vent is secured in position.
Test-fit the component and confirm its alignment, opening location and underhood clearance before permanently modifying the hood. Installation permanently modifies the factory hood.
